At the festival over the weekend there was a Henna Tattoo artist. I got the Chinese character for faith. This adoption journey has been so much about faith. Faith that China is where God is leading our family, Faith that the funds will be provided to cover this adoption, Faith that we can get Darren home before it is too late for his life saving heart surgery, Faith that we can make it through the mounds of paperwork required AND the huge amount of patience needed to complete this adoption, Faith that we can parent a child who has lived the first four years of his life in an orphanage and doesn't speak English.

We had hoped to be DTC (dossier to China) today. We got a call from our agency on Monday saying it wouldn't be possible. To be DTC by today we would need to rush our documents through the consulate. The Chicago consulate is the only consulate that can rush. Apparently in the last two weeks the Chicago Chinese consulate now requires the dates on your documents to be the same as the date they were notarized. Well - our application letter has two different dates. There was really nothing we could do...we didn't have time to change the dates and still have the documents rushed to be DTC by today. So on Monday (7/30) our documents were sent to a courier in Washington DC to be brought to the Washington DC consulate. Apparently the date on that document isn't an issue for them (or for China!). We are now hoping to be DTC on August 10. Good thing I put off on buying the champagne :)

Blessings, Sandy
